Place I Want to Visit in Western Australia

Updated: Apr 29

In the western part of Australia most of the inhabitance of the state live in the city of Perth. It is a very beautiful place with a lot of cultural significance. Now let’s look at some of the places I want to visit and more.

Perth

ree

One thing about going to Perth is the transportation available. Like on the east coast, they have a double-decker bus that will take you different places and attractions around the city. They have malls named Hay Street and Murry Street which is very popular with the tourists.

The Perth cultural center would be an amazing place to go considering it is filled with culture, art, and museums you can enjoy. One of the main places I would want to visit in the cultural arts center is the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

I would also like to visit the swan river since I have heard it has a stunning view and you can even take ferries to different places. Kings Park would be a fun place to visit as well since it is home to a beautiful botanical garden and has a range of diverse plantation. You can also see views of the swan and canning rivers from the park. They have many attractions and activities to explore and learn about the park and its nature.

Fremantle

This town is about 12 miles outside of Perth and it just seems like a very peaceful place. Honestly just walking around and seeing old buildings seems fun and relaxing. There is so much rich history in everything you see, and I find that fascinating.

You can enjoy the Fremantle Markets to go on a little shopping spree if you would like. Trying the food and drinks would be amazing as well since I am a food lover.

ree

They also have a prison you can visit called the Fremantle Prison. I love crime shows and crime documentaries so this would be right up my ally. It is also cool because I know Sam and Colby got to visit a prison in Australia which I find fascinating since I am a fan. You can tour and learn the history of the prison and I think it has a little museum in it but don’t quote me on that.

As a person who loves museums, I would really love to visit the Shipwreck Museum. As a Little Mermaid fan and learning about the Titanic I am fascinated with the ocean and what happens in the ocean. Shipwrecks are tragic but they are so much fun to learn about and I have always wanted to see one or even part of one in person. In this museum they have the remains of the Batavia Shipwreck found in 1963.

New Norcia

New Norcia is also a town outside of Perth that is very popular to visit and from what I can tell it absolutely looks outstanding. There is a beautiful chapel here I would like to visit and take picture of. There is also a museum and art gallery near downtown that you can enjoy.

Rottnest Island

The island itself is only 7 miles long so I fully believe you could get it done in a day or even a couple of hours depending on why your there. You can also decide to stay for a couple of days and relax since they have accommodations such as camping, renting, etc.

ree

They have dives shops, one on Pocillopora reef trail to do some snorkeling which is something I would be very interested in. You can also see beautiful views from Valmigh’s lookout, and I recommend taking so pictures because it will be a beautiful sight to keep for the memories.

You can ride a ferry or fly to get to the island, but cars are not permitted which I understand if its only 7 miles long why do you need a car.

Flower season

ree

I found out that if you go between August-October to Kings Park you can see so many beautiful wildflowers. Overall, you should visit in the spring months of October-November. They have any national parks that have a wonderful selection of wildflowers and I bet they would make for great photos. While you’re in Perth you can go to the Western Australia Visitors Center and get a pamphlet on all the wildflower trails, they have. It’s crazy that they carry over 7000 types of specie of flowers.

The Southwest

This will be a lot of driving so if you’re not up for that I would honestly stay close to the city but if you are looking for some adventure, I highly suggest you take this trip. There are three towns that I have found that seem charming and they are all timber towns.

The 3 old timber towns are called Nannup, Majimup and Pemberton. They seem very beautiful, and I think it’s really cool if you go north of Pemberton, you can visit the most famous tree called Gloucester Tree. You can even climb the trunk of the tree if you’re up for it. Another tree you can visit and honesty this is for all my nature fans out there, you can visit and climb the Bicentennial Tree.

You can also visit the Valley of Giants where you can do tree walks, eat, and drink, there are many trails you can walk, visit the Circular pool for a nice swim in the summer and even have a little picnic. You can also travel to the Conspicuous Cliff if you want to see beautiful sites just be careful because you could get hurt. They also have many accommodations if you would like to stay.

ree

Albany is also a great city that I personally would like to visit. Albany Heritage Park is a place on my list as it is surrounded by so much culture and history. I have always found history to be fascinating and I would love to go to places to learn more about their history and be able to respect them even more than I already do.

Margaret River

On the way to Margaret River, you can stop at Bunbury to swim with dolphins and go to the dolphin discovery center. I have always been a huge fan of dolphins and marine life in general, when I was little, I thought I wanted to become a marine biologist. I’m very lucky as a dolphin lover to have seen Winter in person, I can’t believe she has been gone a year as I’m writing this, I miss her.

ree

Just before you get to Yallingup you can visit Ngilgi Cave. It is a cave which you can tour, and it takes about 1 hour to get through. Other caves you can visit consist of Jewel cave, Moondyne cave, Lake cave, and Mammoth cave. There are probably many others, but I just wanted to list a few to get us started. The funny thing is in my home state of Kentucky we also have a Mammoth cave, and we have a place called Kentucky Downunder where you can see kangaroos.

When you finally get to Margaret River, there is plenty for you to do. Alcohol isn't something I am into but if you are they have wine tastings, they have eco friendly biking, and you might even what to take some surfing lessons.

Augusta

ree

This is a town in the southwest of Australia and there are many things to do and see. You can go whale watching which I find intriguing. Whales are such amazing creatures to me and to be close to one would be cool but maybe a little terrifying. The Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse would also be pretty to see and take pictures of.

Lighthouses to me resemble God in a sort of way. Even if I am lost and can’t find my way, the light will guide me where I need to go and that’s what God does for me, he guides me in the right direction. I would also like to visit the Hamelin Beach just be careful if you go because sting rays can swim close to the shoreline so watch your surroundings.

Shark Bay

ree

It has many tours to choose form wither it’s by boat, flight, bike, and drive. You can also go visit the city of Denham and go to many different places. Monkey Mia is a good pace to visit for families and people would love nature. They also have a dolphin experience, and you can even feed them, but you can’t swim with them.

I would also love to visit Francois Peron National Park as it has some beautiful sights and a camping ground if you want. Shell beach is also located near this national park, and I’ve got to say it looks so cool, but I recommend shoes. If you want some nice relaxing time, I will visit the Oceanside Village since it’s close to Monkey Mia dolphin beach and has decent accommodations.

Ningaloo Marine Park

It is on the World Heritage list is the longest reefs in Australia. It is known for its amazing diversity of animals and plant life. If you like snorkeling this is a great place to do it with easy access. You can also swim with whale sharks which I find amazing, I mean being close to something like that would be life changing.

ree

A place I would like to stay is Sal Salis. It is a beautiful place to stay if you want to have a relaxing and nature type stay. They have many accommodations and many experience for their guests. The idea of grabbing dinner and then going stargazing is something that sounds like a dream.

Exmouth is also near the Marine Park and is one of the places I want to visit. I love turtles and they have a turtle tour and of course I will get pictures for my dad since turtles are his favorite. You can also spend the day waling the Cape Range National Park. If you haven’t had enough diving time, they also have diving experiences. The Navy Pier in Exmouth seems like a cool and beautiful experience.

Broome

This is a place that is mixed matched with many different cultures. It attracted a lot of people for work from many countries. China, Japan, and Europeans are just some of the that has migrated here which I find is a very beautiful thing. You can ride a camel on the beach and that seems so fun just stay out of spitting rang haha. You can also take a guide on the pearl farm and see the beautiful scenery and learn more about pearl farming and I honestly didn’t know it was a thing till I started research on Australia.

ree

Cable beach is one destination that will be fun for me as a beach lover. Apparently, it is the second-best beach in the south pacific and if you would like to drive along the beach you will need 4WD. It is safe to swim in most of the time but there are some exceptions so do your own research before visiting to swim. If you are a beach lover like me, you should also visit Turquoise Bay it is a must on your list it is absolutely breathtaking.

The Kimberly

There are many places that you could go, and I want to take a look at some of them.

Kununurra

It has many attractions for you adventurers out there. You can stay at El Questro. It has many fun

ree

activities from swimming holes, wildlife, and amazing sites. You can also visit Lake Argyle which is the largest form of fresh water in Australia. If you like national parks, you can visit Mirima National Park. You can also take a trip to the Bungle Bungle Range which you can take tours if that makes you feel more comfortable. It is an amazing formation of sandstone shaped domes.

Purnululu National Park

They have many amazing experiences and one that I would do is glamping and if you know what that is, you get me. If you like to get to know the culture a little bit more, they have an Indigenous culture tour I think you would enjoy. There are also many hiking trails you can experience if you would like. Walking through the Cathedral Gorge would also be something I would really like to do because it looks gorgeous. Just a tip as well, if you want to do the driving to Purnululu then I highly suggest 4WD.

Kalgoorlie- Boulder

It is a small town in Western Australia, and it was a gold mining town since 1893. The main street

ree

is named Hannah Street which is very appealing to me since my name is Hannah. They have a visiting center, walking tours, parks, attractions, and many places to stay. Many of the attractions are learning experiences to learn about the history of the town which is really cool. I really want to visit Hannana North Tourist mine and learn more about the mining history. It just seems like a cool and historical place I would really enjoy.
