Places I Want to Visit on the East Coast of Australia

Updated: May 29

I am having to write down the places I want to visit in Australia into 4 separate articles because each territory I will be talking about has a lot to explore and I can’t fit everything in one blog post.

So, let’s get started!

Sydney

ree

Of course, I must go to Sydney because ITS SYDNEY!!! I have known about it since I was a baby watching Finding Nemo.

I just can’t wait to visit the Sydney Opera House one day, take a ferry tour, and so much more. It will also be a lot of fun to explore Downtown Sydney to shop and explore the sites such as the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the St. Andrews Cathedral.

I have also been a huge fan of aquariums ever since I was a child so I would love to visit the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium. I love sea life and I feel they should always be protected, and I love being able to learn more about the animals there.

There are over 100 beaches to visit which is lucky for me because I love the beach. I don’t get to go very often so that would be a gift for me. As a Christian, I don’t know why but the water is something that makes me feel closer to God.

The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney would be cool to visit as well. From all the pictures I have seen it looks breathtaking. I have an appreciation for gardens because my Granny has a garden that I have helped her with since I was little.

They also have an Amusement Park called Luna Park Sydney and I know that would be so much fun to go and ride some rides. I hope when I take this trip in the future, I have friends that would go with me.

Melbourne

This city is rich in culture and very famous for the Finders Street which is the oldest railway station in Australia. They also have amazing markets, food, exhibits, and the birthplace of Test cricket.

One beach that they are known for is Brighten Beach. One reason it is very popular is because of all the Victorian bath boxes that are lined up on the beach.

They are different colors, so it makes the beach vibrant. It is also a beautiful beach to have a picnic with friends and get good pictures.

I am a huge coffee drinker and I have heard from so many people that Australia has the best coffee. I will try and find cafes in Melbourne and most other places I visit. The food also seems to look amazing in every picture I look at.

Art has also been a passion of mine, even though I’m not the best at drawing I have always loved to do it and I want to really appreciate artists work. They have the Gallery of Victoria which is Australias largest and oldest art museum and ArtVo which is a 3D art exhibit I can visit to appreciate many different styles and ages of art.

One of the coolest things I think about is the Great Ocean Road drive which is a road that stretches about 260 miles from torquay to warrhambool. It was built to as a monument to recognize the soldiers who fought in WW1. I would love to take a road trip and just enjoy the ride.

Northern Queensland

Scuba diving has always been something I have wanted to do and what better place to do it than The Great Barrier Reef. I want to scuba dive at Port Douglas but there are other places you can sign up to scuba dive. You can sign up to go scuba diving with instructors and other people, and if I like it I will think about getting a scuba diving license.

I have watched documentaries on National Geographic and research about the Great Barrier Reef and it is absolutely breathtaking. To think that it stretches over 1200 miles across the east coast can be hard to wrap my mine around.

Visiting The Daintree Rainforest would also be a real sight to see. The wildlife that inhabits there is so cool, and it is said to be one of the oldest rain forests in the world.

It is just one of the many National Parks I would like to visit in Australia. Carins would also be cool to visit since they have an aquarium, a Botanical Garden, and the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park.

Going to the Mount Alexandra Lookout will give you beautiful views across the coast and you can take a walk on the Jindalba Boardwalk.

You can also visit the Atherton Tablelands where they have a craft market, the Barron Gorge National park, crater lakes, and so much more. Northern Queensland seems to have so many beautiful places you can see and thing to do, you will never get bored.

Magnetic Island

ree

This place looks so amazing with it being a smaller island, it feels like it would be quite cozy. They have many private beaches to visit so I will have to check those out, maybe even have a picnic on the beach.

You can also go on beautiful hikes and see Koalas which is an animal I have always wanted to see in person.

If you don’t see a Koala in the wild though, you can visit the Bungalow Bay Koala Village. They even have accommodations where you can stay there, and you can also camp there.

Another thing you can do it rent a car to explore the whole island. I have heard from a couple of sources that it only takes around 2-3 days to explore so if you’re looking for a sweet and short sight see I would recommend Magnetic Island.

Brisbane

From Brisbane you can take a bus to the Australia Zoo and that is one of the most exciting things for me. I have wanted to visit the Australia Zoo since I was a little girl.

The idea that I could see the animals up close and personal and learn about how they live. Also be able to hold a koala would also be a dream come true.

It would also be amazing if I could meet the Irwin family but that probably will never happen but if it does, it will be spectacular because they seem like such amazing people.

You can also visit the Springbrook and Tambourine Rainforest. I would personally do a tour so I can really learn and experience the place.

They also have river cruises which sounds fun and interesting to admire places from afar. It would give you a broader outlook on the region and able you to admire the scenery.

I would also most definitely want to visit both the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

The Whitsundays Islands

ree

The Whitsunday Islands are made up of 74 different Islands. Of course I would want to visit Whitsunday Island while I am there for many reasons but one that sticks out to me is Whitehaven Beach. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and that would be a sight to see.

You can also se the heart of the reef if you do a helicopter tour. The picture above is what I'm talking about, it is a coral reef that is apart of The Great Barrier Reef.

Now the Airline Beach is not technically part of the islands but you can get to the Whitsunday Islands from Airline Beach through a ferry so I wanted to include it in this part of the article.

Visiting Cedar Creek Falls would be a fun thing to do because of the nature surrounding it. Its a natural waterhole so you can swim and enjoy the water. Waterholes just seem so magical and serene; it would be an amazing experience. It is about 30 min away from Airlie Beach.

They also have crocodile safari tours that would be cool to go on. I remember growing up and watching alligator and crocodile tv shows with my dad which has made me a fan of crocs over the years.

The Island I would really like to stay at for a few days is Daydream Island because from what I hear it is a family friendly area and that would bring me so much peace. It would be a great weekend trip for someone who lives near there.

Noosa

ree

I would really love to visit Noosa because it looks absolutely incredible . You can go to Noosa Heads and see beautiful beaches, The National Park, and the town just in itself. There are also many beautiful resorts you can stay at.

Noosa Junction also seems cool as well with all the art, the food, and the shopping that’s available to the people there. There are so many restaurants to choose from and as a foodie, that makes me very happy.

Also as I am a very big coffee person, and this place gives me promise in finding a good cup of coffee.

I saw somewhere as well you can ride horses on the beach and as I am a girl from the south, I fully would love to be able to do this. There is also a bay called Alexandria Bay that I would love to visit, I wonder if I can ride horses there.

This is barely even half of what I want to do on the east coast, but it is a good start to planning a trip in the future. If you all have any recommendations on where I should visit on the east coast when I am able to visit I would gladly love to know your thoughts.
